Puto is a Filipino steamed rice cake. This version is delicious, quick, and easy — made with common pantry ingredients. The baking soda, baking powder, and vinegar give these little cakes serious pillowy fluff!

- 11.Boil water for your steamer. Use a bamboo steamer basket (recommended) or stainless steel steamer. Make sure to use enough liquid so it does not dry out.
- 22.Sift the flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
- 33.Add the sugar and salt to the bowl. Mix the dry ingredients together.
- 44.In a separate container, mix the water, plant milk, and butter to make the wet mixture.
- 55.Slowly pour the wet mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients. Mix until just combined — small lumps are okay. Do not overmix.
